I use this bookcase to sit in my dining room outside the kitchen to hold my cookbooks, craft books, journals, and anything involving creativity. This way if I need to spread things out on my dining room table, the books are right there. I put overflow items inside Joann's covered colorful storage boxes to hold art materials on the top bookshelf. It looks great and it truly functional for me.
